The widow of Navalny vows to continue her late husband’s opposition to Putin.

Yulia Navalnaya, the spouse of the deceased Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of being implicated in her husband’s demise. She affirmed on Monday her commitment to carrying on his legacy, expressing in a video message, “We are aware of the reasons why Alexei was killed three days ago, and we will soon disclose this information. Nonetheless, the most crucial tribute we can pay to Alexei and to ourselves is to persist in our struggle. I will continue the work of Alexei Navalny, advocating for our nation, and I implore you to join me in solidarity.”

Navalny, a prominent figure in Russian opposition and a critic of the Kremlin, passed away in prison at the age of 47 on Friday, as officially announced by the state penitentiary service.

Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Kremlin, had previously refuted any involvement in Navalny’s passing, underscoring the absence of statements from physicians, forensic specialists, or the Federal Penitentiary Service regarding the cause of death.

Reportedly, officials at a morgue in the Arctic city where Navalny’s body is believed to be located denied access to his elderly mother and legal representatives on Monday morning, as conveyed by Navalny’s team. Furthermore, they declined to verify the presence of Navalny’s remains.

The Russian Investigative Committee, which frequently handles politically sensitive cases, has notified Navalny’s relatives that the investigation into his death has been “prolonged,” suggesting that the body will not be released at the present time.

Navalnaya was expected to deliver a speech at a gathering of European foreign ministers in Brussels on Monday.
