Incorporating bananas into your diet, along with consuming orange and lime juices or coconut water, can significantly reduce bloating and stomach discomfort when paired with regular exercise and a decrease in alcohol consumption.

Dr. Bui Dac Sang of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Traditional Medicine Association of Hanoi City explains that bloating and indigestion are often caused by consuming excessive oily foods and irregular meal patterns. He recommends the following fruits as remedies for these conditions:

Lime juice

Limes, which are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, provide approximately 30 mg of vitamin C from a 60-gram serving, accounting for 30% of an adult’s daily recommended intake. They also contain essential micronutrients such as magnesium, iron, potassium, and vitamin A, which are crucial for maintaining a strong immune system. These nutrients support liver function by assisting in bile production, which aids digestion.

Furthermore, lime juice acts as a detoxifier for the liver, promoting the cleansing process and aiding in alcohol detoxification. Other citrus fruits also help expedite the body’s metabolism of alcohol.

However, individuals with stomach or intestinal sensitivities are advised to consume lime juice in moderation due to its sourness and acidity.

Coconut water

Known for its cooling and hydrating properties, coconut water helps regulate body temperature and prevent dehydration. This nutrient-rich beverage supports detoxification and digestion due to its high fiber content, while also being low in calories and fat-free.

Sugarcane

Valued in oriental medicine for its cooling effects, sugarcane’s natural sweetness and refreshing taste help cool the body and promote detoxification. It aids in alcohol metabolism and hydrates the body with its sugar and water content. For those who frequently consume alcohol, it is recommended to opt for freshly pressed sugarcane juice over refined sugar.

Banana

High in potassium, bananas help eliminate excess sodium and water from the body. They also contain resistant starch, which can alleviate constipation and reduce bloating.

Papaya

Papayas contain papain, an enzyme that aids in protein digestion and helps relieve stomach gas, providing relief after meals. They also help prevent constipation and promote smoother bowel movements.

It is recommended to consume ripe papayas and avoid eating them on an empty stomach.

Pineapple

With its high fiber content, pineapple enhances intestinal contractions, softens stools, promotes waste elimination, and addresses bloating and digestion issues.

In addition to these fruits, maintaining a daily water intake of 1.5-2 liters and engaging in physical activities such as aerobic exercises, dancing, boxing, running, cycling, and relaxing activities like yoga and meditation are beneficial.

Practices such as soaking feet before bedtime or steaming can promote good sleep and further detoxification.

Limiting the consumption of alcohol, stimulants, and oily foods is also crucial for good health.

Cucumber

Although commonly mistaken for a vegetable, cucumber is actually a fruit. It has a high water content, which aids in hydration and detoxification. It is also low in calories.

Apples

Apples are rich in fiber, particularly a soluble fiber called pectin, which aids in digestion and helps remove toxins from the digestive tract.

Avocado

While technically a fruit, avocados are known for their healthy fats and fiber, which can help regulate digestion and promote a feeling of fullness without bloating.

Kiwi

Kiwi surpasses oranges in vitamin C content. Its enzymes aid in breaking down proteins. Slice and enjoy this tangy delight.

Watermelon

Watermelon is 92% water, making it an excellent choice for staying hydrated. It flushes out toxins and supports kidney function. Slice it up for a refreshing snack on hot days.
