In Las Vegas, there was a shooting at a place where homeless people stay. Sadly, one person died, and four others were injured, according to the police.
Unfortunately, there was a shooting at a homeless encampment in Las Vegas on Friday. The police reported one person lost their life, and four others were injured.
Around 5:30 p.m. in Las Vegas near Charleston Boulevard and U.S. 95, a troubling incident occurred. The police went to a place where homeless people stay, and witnesses pointed them to several victims. This information was shared by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jason Johansson at a briefing on Friday night.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department informed that the individuals who were injured, and all of them were homeless, were transported to the University Medical Center.
Regrettably, a man in his 50s couldn’t survive his injuries and was declared dead at the hospital, according to the police. Another man in his 30s is in critical condition. However, there’s some relief as two men in their 30s and a teenager are stable and doing okay.
Las Vegas police told that they think one person, who hasn’t been caught, shot the victims.
On Saturday, officers planned to return to the crime scene and search for surveillance footage, as mentioned by Johansson.
As of Friday night, it’s unclear if this incident is isolated, he added.
This incident in Las Vegas doesn’t appear to be linked to the recent fatal shootings of three homeless men in Los Angeles, according to the lead LAPD investigator.
Three individuals were alone, sleeping on the street or in an alley when they were killed, and the LAPD raised concerns about a potential serial killer targeting them, as announced in a news conference on Friday.
In Los Angeles, the police advised homeless people to sleep in shelters, not on the streets, after three were shot. The Las Vegas shooting doesn’t seem related to these incidents in LA. The Las Vegas police didn’t provide more details and haven’t made any arrests yet.
Following the senseless shooting of three homeless people in Los Angeles, officials advised unhoused individuals not to sleep alone. Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore revealed on Friday that they believe a single gunman was responsible for separate attacks, fatally shooting the three men while they were sleeping.
Despite the similarities in the initial details of both cases, the police emphasize that they don’t believe the incidents are connected.
