After the Golden State Warriors lost 141-105 to the New Orleans Pelicans, their star player, Stephen Curry, suggested that the team might need to make some big changes for the future.
The New Orleans Pelicans secured a significant victory over the Golden State Warriors with a score of 141-105. Herbert Jones showcased his skills with several successful 3-pointers, while Jonas Valanciunas contributed 21 points in only 21 minutes of play. The Pelicans had a strong start, making nine 3-pointers in the first quarter and establishing a substantial lead that the Warriors couldn’t overcome.
Zion Williamson, along with seven other Pelicans, including all the starters, scored in double figures. Zion contributed 19 points, leading New Orleans to score over 140 points for the third time this season, all occurring since December 13.
Moses Moody had an impressive performance, scoring 21 points as a substitute for the Warriors. Unfortunately, the team faced its fifth loss during a seven-game homestand, and the home fans expressed their disappointment.
In the opening 56 seconds, Jones nailed a 3-pointer, securing an early lead for the Pelicans, which they maintained throughout the game. The team’s initial 15 points all came from successful shots beyond the arc, with Jones and Valanciunas contributing to four out of the five 3-pointers, establishing a 15-4 lead.
The Warriors tried to narrow the gap, reaching 74-64 early in the third quarter. However, any chance of a comeback faded when Brandon Ingram made his fourth 3-pointer, leading to another strong performance by the Pelicans.
Trey Murphy III scored 16 points, while CJ McCollum and Jordan Hawkins each added 14. Ingram had 13, and Naji Marshall and Jones both contributed 12 points for the Pelicans. They had an impressive shooting night, with a 57.4 percent overall shooting and a 47.5 percent success rate on 3-pointers.
Jones, Murphy, and Hawkins each made four of the Pelicans’ 19 3-pointers.
Valanciunas also secured nine rebounds, while McCollum (eight) and Williamson (seven) combined for 15 of the team’s 37 assists.
Trayce Jackson-Davis scored 19 points, and rookie Brandin Podziemski grabbed nine rebounds for the Warriors. Unfortunately, they allowed a season-high point total just three days after the Toronto Raptors scored 133 against them.
Stephen Curry scored 15 points and provided six assists, Klay Thompson added 13 points, and Jonathan Kuminga contributed 12 for Golden State. However, they were outscored 57-36 from beyond the arc.
