The Princess of Wales has had abdominal surgery, and King Charles is set to undergo a prostate procedure.

Kensington Palace has confirmed that the Prince of Wales visited his wife, Catherine, in the hospital while she is recovering from her surgery.

Buckingham Palace revealed that King Charles III of Britain is scheduled for a procedure to address an enlarged prostate, while the Princess of Wales is currently recovering in the hospital after undergoing a planned abdominal surgery.

The 75-year-old monarch, who assumed the throne in September following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, is scheduled to be admitted to the hospital next week. The palace mentioned that he had to cancel a few planned activities to allow for a proper recovery from the upcoming procedure.
“The King, like many other men, is undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate,” stated the palace. “His condition is not serious, and he is scheduled for a corrective procedure at the hospital next week.”

Palace officials shared that the king was eager to disclose his diagnosis to inspire other men experiencing symptoms to undergo check-ups.

The king is dealing with a common condition that often affects men over 50, causing changes in urination. Health officials clarify that it doesn’t raise the risk of prostate cancer.

Meanwhile, in another update, Princess Kate, married to Prince William, had a successful surgery for an unspecified abdominal issue. She’ll be in the hospital for 10 to 14 days and is expected to resume her royal duties around Easter.

The recent updates on her health are positive, indicating a good recovery. The increased information about her hospital stay reflects a more open approach compared to previous years when royal health details were usually private.

The princess was last seen in public during Christmas, appearing well after a busy series of engagements, including her televised carol concert at Westminster Abbey.

According to reports from British news outlets, the Prince of Wales is determined to be with his wife and has adjusted his schedule. This has raised uncertainty about a planned visit to Rome.

Kate apologized for delaying her upcoming engagements, and Kensington Palace stated that she won’t resume public duties until after Easter. The palace added, “The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible, and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”

In a nation known for its avid interest in the royal family, the palace stated that the princess “acknowledges the attention this statement will receive. She hopes the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normalcy for her children as possible.”

Prince William plans to spend more time with his wife during her recovery, prompting adjustments to his schedule. There were expectations of a royal trip this spring for the Prince and Princess of Wales, possibly to Italy, but it seems those plans may need to be rearranged.
