Former Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo was arrested over the weekend in Indiana. He faces charges for possessing a firearm and marijuana.
Rajon Rondo, who spent nine of his 16 NBA seasons with the Boston Celtics, was arrested on Sunday afternoon during a traffic stop in Jackson County, Indiana.
Indiana State Police reported that Rajon Rondo was pulled over for a traffic violation on Interstate 65. The trooper mentioned smelling marijuana coming from his car.
Police discovered a gun, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia in Rajon Rondo’s car. Due to a protection order against him, he is not permitted to possess a firearm. All charges against the 37-year-old are misdemeanors.
Rondo was taken to Jackson County Jail but was released after posting bail.
The two-time NBA champion, Rajon Rondo, has a history of legal troubles. In 2022, a woman from Louisville accused him of threatening her life, prompting an emergency protective order. However, the order was dismissed a year later after Rondo completed anger management classes, counseling, and a mental health evaluation.
The same woman filed another protective order against Rondo last March, but they reached an agreement five months later.
A child who was in the car with Rondo during his arrest was released to a family member’s custody.
Rondo is expected to appear in Jackson County Superior Court, although a date hasn’t been set yet.
