Following a three-week trial and two days of jury deliberation, Jonathan Majors, known for his roles in Lovecraft Country and Creed III, has been found guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment. These charges relate to an incident involving his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, during which Majors reportedly broke Jabbari’s finger. The incident resulted in Majors’ arrest in New York in March 2023.
Fans were surprised when Jonathan Majors, known for his gentle and sensitive image, faced initial charges of abuse. However, as the court process continued, more allegations of domestic violence came to light, exposing a history of reported controlling and aggressive behavior.

The jury’s decision came shortly after the Manhattan Criminal Court Judge, Michael Gaffey, unexpectedly released evidence in Jonathan Majors’ case. This included a video showing Majors lifting Grace Jabbari and forcing her back into a car, a 911 call made by Majors after the incident, and photos of Jabbari’s injuries. Additionally, the court released an audio clip from a separate 2022 incident where Majors scolded Jabbari for getting drunk, claimed to be a “great man,” and requested support similar to what Coretta Scott King or Michelle Obama received from their husbands.

Jonathan Majors faces a potential one-year jail term after being convicted, with the jury clearing him of more serious charges like intentional assault and aggravated harassment. This verdict likely marks the end of his career, which quickly rose from success at Yale to Hollywood stardom. It’s also a setback for Marvel, as they had plans for Majors as a significant villain in their upcoming movies. Despite Marvel staying silent until the verdict, they removed Majors from all future film projects on Monday.

In a mixed verdict, the jury found Jonathan Majors not guilty of intentional assault in the third degree and aggravated harassment in the second degree. This means they didn’t think Majors intended to hurt Jabbari in the situation. In response, Majors’ lawyer expressed both gratitude and disappointment about the outcome.

Despite the jury’s decision, Jonathan Majors is experiencing significant career setbacks. It was confrimed that on Monday that Marvel and Disney, previously planning a major movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Majors, have chosen to part ways with the actor.

The incident between Majors and Jabbari occurred in Manhattan on March 25. Prosecutors alleged that Majors, 34, attacked Jabbari in the back of a car. When she attempted to follow him out of the vehicle at a downtown intersection, they claimed he lifted her and pushed her back into the car.
During a car argument, Jonathan Majors and Jabbari clashed when she saw a message on his phone from another woman. According to prosecutors, Jabbari took Majors’ phone, prompting him to pull her finger, twist her arm, and hit her on the head to retrieve it. Majors then left the car at an intersection. As Jabbari tried to follow, a video revealed Majors lifting and pushing her back into the car. Subsequently, Majors ran down the street, with Jabbari in pursuit.

Jonathan Majors’ attorney, Priya Chaudhry, conveyed that he maintains faith in the legal process and anticipates clearing his name entirely. Although he was convicted of recklessly causing injury, Chaudhry expressed gratitude for his acquittal on the charge of intentionally causing harm.

Chaudhry added, “Mr. Majors is thankful to God, his family, friends, and fans for their love and support during these challenging eight months.”

Following the conviction, Marvel and Disney promptly removed the “Creed III” star from all upcoming projects, as reported by an anonymous source familiar with the studio’s decisions, speaking on condition of anonymity due to a lack of authorization to discuss the matter publicly.

Before facing legal issues, Jonathan Majors had a significant role lined up in Marvel movies as the character Kang. He had already been featured in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and the first two seasons of “Loki.” Majors was set to star in “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” scheduled for release in May 2026.

Known for his performances in “The Last Black Man in San Francisco,” “Devotion,” and “Da 5 Bloods,” Majors had quickly become a prominent figure in Hollywood. Additionally, he played the lead in “Magazine Dreams,” a film about a guy interested in bodybuilding, which received praise at the Sundance Film Festival. However, ahead of Majors’ trial, the movie distributor, Searchlight Pictures, removed “Magazine Dreams” from its release schedule.

Jonathan Majors is slated for sentencing on February 6. The potential consequences for the assault conviction include a maximum jail term of up to one year, although alternatives such as probation or non-jail sentences are also possible.
